A friend of mine worked as a bartender at a classy Winebar,
he was upset how bad the musik was.
I came up with the idea to create an eventseries for the Bar where he could play his music or invite DJ’s to turn the bar into an listeningbar for several evenings.
OVERVIEW
East Grape is an experimental project born out of a conversation with a
friend who works at a classy wine bar in Frankfurt’s Ostend district—a
place marked by stark contrasts between wealth and poverty. The
bar’s atmosphere was often dominated by snobby patrons and dull music,
which felt out of place in the city’s vibrant and eclectic cultural
scene. Sensing an opportunity to break this mold, I proposed a monthly
electro music party to bring in a different crowd and create a unique,
refreshing vibe.
CONCEPT & APPROACH
The goal was to reimagine the wine bar as a more inclusive and lively
venue, tapping into Frankfurt’s existing electronic music scene. To test
the concept, I decided to challenge myself creatively. In just 30 minutes,
I sketched out 50 unique poster designs—each with its own twist
and message. The idea was to showcase how fast and diverse my creative
output could be, while also crafting a visual identity that would appeal
to the desired crowd.
DESIGN ELEMENTS
The posters were kept in black and white, using a clean, simple typeface
to convey clarity and impact. To contrast this, I added handdrawn
marker illustrations in a loose, expressive style. This juxtaposition
created a dynamic and edgy aesthetic, balancing sophistication
with a raw, unfiltered vibe. Each poster had its own personality—some
were silly, some were bold, and others were strong statements—offering
a wide range of tones that could appeal to different types of people.
VISUAL STYLES
The black-and-white theme, combined with the mix of typography and handdrawn
elements, gave the posters a distinctive, almost DIY feel. This was intentional,
as it mirrored the underground, grassroots nature of the envisioned
event. The variety in the designs allowed for flexibility and experimentation,
ensuring that the identity could evolve as the event series grew.
1 Marker, 30 minutes quick n dirty.

Deliverables
The rapid creation of 50 distinct posters not only demonstrated my ability to
think quickly and work efficiently under pressure but also generated excitement
around the idea. It provided a strong visual foundation for what could
become a cool, recurring event that brings together diverse groups of people
for a night of good music and better vibes.
